Jan 5, 2026

The open forum “Citizen Compass for Shaping the Sustainability and Future Security of Ida-Viru County,” held in Narva on December 12, marked the successful conclusion of the project “The Future of Ida-Viru County 2050.”

The project, initiated by Nidus Balticus, demonstrated strong local commitment to actively shaping the green transition of Ida-Viru County. The aim of the forum was to lay the foundations for a sustainable civic community in this historically complex region by bringing together active local residents, opinion leaders, and experts to jointly reflect on and shape a sustainable, resilient, and forward-looking future. More than 100 people participated in the forum, symbolizing a shared responsibility not only for addressing current challenges, but also for guiding the region’s development over the next 25 years.

Over the past year, an inclusive and comprehensive process involving public consultations, thematic workshops, international study visits, and extensive dialogue with local and national stakeholders resulted in the vision document “The Future of Ida-Viru County 2050.”

The network established within the framework of the project will continue to operate after the project’s official conclusion, strengthening long-term cooperation and contributing to the region’s resilience.
